Zombie run organizer says sorry

This has been a week of apologies. Yesterday, it was newscaster Arnold Clavio. Now, it’s Jon Richard Usi.

Usi is the organizer of the “Makati After Dark” zombie run that was canceled at the last minute on Halloween.

In a letter to Philippine Daily Inquirer on Thursday, Usi said he was still finding a way to refund the registration fee of disgruntled runners, who took to Facebook following the cancellation

Usi maintained that the run was legitimate, neither a “bogus or a scam” as some people may have portrayed it. He explained that the event encountered problems which forced the organizing committee to call off certain portions of the program.

For instance, he said street children infiltrated the ranks of zombies and started harassing the first two batches of participants who were already running in the evening.

The street concert was also cancelled.

But other events like the food market and auto show pushed through, he insisted.

Usi added that of the 83 who registered, 33 participants managed to continue their run. The organizer said his staff was trying to find out the names of those who want a refund.

You can run, but you can’t hide.
