Zamboanga Sibugay town mayor killed by armed men hours after filing COC

At around 4pm on Mon, Oct 12,  Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay Mayor Randy Climaco was killed in an ambush just hours after filing his certificate of candidacy (COC) before the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) office. Climaco was running for reelection.

“Climaco was in transit to downtown Tungawan when his vehicle was ambushed by unidentified armed men. The mayor was killed on the spot, while six others were wounded, including Tungawan Vice Mayor Abdurauf Abison,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

Operatives from the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been dispatched to conduct hot pursuit operations against Climaco’s killers.
