An article published on travel site Destination Tips is making the rounds on social media.
The article, “Stay Away: Top Dangerous Cities To Avoid (For Now),” which is written by Tessa Riley, lists 12 that she considers “dangerous.”
Zamboanga City is ranked No. 9 on the list. Riley reasoned, “This is one city you should seriously steer clear of for the time being. It has been the center of a battle between the Republic of the Philippines (RP) and the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) since September 2013. There have been rocket attacks, heavy mortar fire, houses burned, and hostage takings.”

Understandably, Zamboanga City officials are upset by the city’s inclusion in the list. They pointed out that the Zamboanga City siege is over.
