YOLO: Half of Filipino youth have high cholesterol

It’s time for a lifestyle check, young ones. Your all-nighters and daily trips to fast food joints may lead to your impending doom.

An alarming 46.9% of Filipinos aged 20 and above already have borderline high cholesterol according to a recent study by the Food and Nutrition Research Institute, reports The Philippine Star.

Having high cholesterol is linked to killer non-communicable diseases in the Philippines such as diabetes, chronic respiratory diseases and cardiovascular diseases.

Cardiovascular diseases, by the way, are the leading causes of mortality among Filipinos.

Some easy steps towards a healthier lifestyle include eating salad and fruits, and going for exercises like regular brisk walking or even trips to the gym.

After all, YOLO.
