Yolanda survivors vacate Pasay tent city

They’re moving on.

“The tent city which was set up by the Pasay City government in Villamor Air Base Elementary School to provide temporary shelter to Yolanda evacuees since November 19 is now closing,” reports Jean Fernando in the Manila Bulletin.

Around 500 Yolanda survivors were based in the tent city. While most have been transported to their relatives living in Metro Manila and neighboring provinces, 93 of them decided to return to Eastern Visayas.

According to Pasay Mayor Antonino Calixto, the city’s Social Welfare and Development Office transported the survivors in five buses to Samar and Leyte. The survivors were likewise given more relief goods and shelter kits before they were sent on their way.
