Now, this is pure genius.

“Dante Enage — a Typhoon Yolanda survivor and tubâ (fermented coconut wine) painter hailing from Tacloban — did a painting of Pope Francis entitled ‘Lolo Kiko Visits Tacloban’ depicting devastation as well as the hope that the Pope is igniting as he visits the city on Saturday, January 17,” reports Romsanne Ortiguero on InterAksyon.com.

Enage was quoted as saying, “My painting is simple, anyone who would look at it will understand: three waves symbolizing the storm surge; devastated homes because of the super typhoon; San Juanico Bridge for Leyte and Samar; dove for peace that the pope is bringing; sunshine as hope for a new day; Sto.Niño Church for Christianity; a growing plant symbolizing resiliency; and most importantly, Pope Francis’ portrait for the unity of every citizen. The one written in baybayin spells ‘Tacloban.'”

The report noted that “the size of the painting is 17 inches by 14 inches and made use of tubâ or coconut wine as the medium.”

Enage is hoping that the painting will be given to Pope Francis.

The report also revealed: “Enage’s other tubâ paintings have been given to prominent personalities including Department of Tourism secretary Ramon Jimenez Jr., King of Sweden Carl XVI Gustaf, and Taleb Rifai, World Tourism Organization‘s Secretary General as commissioned by Department of Tourism Region 8.”
