At Nobu Hotel Manila’s grand opening in May 2015, no less than Robert de Niro was in attendance.
The 321-room hotel is the first Nobu hotel to open in Asia, and one of three hotels in the City of Dreams Complex in Parañaque that’s out to impress the “fun luxury” set.
Its major come-on is Nobu Restaurant. But there are also the impressive tea house on the ground floor, the goodlooking staff in Rajo Laurel uniforms, and unique modern art pieces in each room.
Alas, all these mean nothing as Nobu Hotel Manila has been named the worst luxury hotel opening of 2015.
The, “distinction” was handed by Luxury Travel Intelligence (LTI) a members-only organization that describes itself as “delivering the ‘hard facts’ from a ‘global network of highly experienced writers and researchers who are some of the best in the industry’,” notes John Jutchinson on Dailymail.
According to Blouin ArtInfo, a website that publishes art news and commentary under the Louise Blouin Media group, “LTI put it on the top of its list of top 6 worst of the year, due to ‘some questionable developments and over expansion.”
Members of the LTI club described Nobu Hotel as having “disappointments at every turn”.
An overnight stay at a Nobu deluxe room will have you shelling out PHP11,415.75, which is good for two and inclusive of breakfast.
Coconuts Manila called Nobu Hotel to get its reaction and Charisse Chuidian, who is the VP for Public Relations, gave a very chic, “no comment.”
