Yay! Valenzuela’s Barangay Health Workers get notebooks

Let it not be said that Valenzuela City skimps on health services. The city government has given its Barangay Health Workers 100 health kits for monitoring and recording the health of its residents.

In a statement on the Philippine Information Agency, Valenzuela City Mayor Sherwin Gatchalian said the 100 health kits will help the city’s 316 healthworkers bring frontline medical services to Valenzuela residents somehow.

The health kits comprise a BHW Journal, a BHW Handbook, and a BHW Field Journal.

“With their new journals, they can now record all referrals and services they will render,” Gatchalian said. The handbook will give BHWs information on maternal health care, child health care, tuberculosis and other diseases.

The notebooks were made in partnership with a pharmaceutical company.

Barangay health workers are essentially volunteers and only receive honoraria from local governments.
