Now, this is what we call sore loser.
A failed campaign in the recent barangay election may have driven an outgoing chair in Capiz to go berserk against his siblings, shooting his younger brother and two sisters dead Tuesday morning.
Local police identified the suspect as Manuel Arcenas, 56, who fled immediately after his purported rampage in Barangay Manapao, an island community in Pontevedra municipality, reports Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Investigators have yet to pinpoint Arcenas’ motive in shooting his brother Ramon, 56; Jennifer, 53, and Evelyn, 51, but authorities are leaning towards the outcome of the recent polls, where the suspect and his brother took part.
Manuel fielded his 19-year-old daughter against Ramon, which the latter handily defeated, while the elder Arcenas sought a kagawad seat, but lost.
On Tuesday morning, Manuel went to a house where his siblings were having coffee. Armed with an M-16 carbine rifle and a handgun tucked in his waist, Manuel shot at his brother before open firing at his sisters. The siblings were declared dead on arrival when they reached a local hospital.
