When a woman says “no,” believe her. She means it.
A woman has gone viral on Twitter since Saturday after she posted several text messages from a man who insulted her after she refused to go out on a date with him.
Janice Alano (@janisalano), 22, posted screenshots of the text messages she received and sent to an unidentified man on her Twitter account.
In her caption, she wrote: “Since we met at an event years ago this person has been popping up in my messages asking me out and I’ve always said no. Who knew his ego could be so fragile [?]”

The photos show how Alano replied “pass, hehe sorry,” as a way to say “no” when the guy asked her out.
The man then asked her why but she refused to give him a reason. The man answered: “I asked if you wanted to go out. I’ll pay for dinner and drinks. [The] least you should do is tell me why.”
Alano answered by saying she doesn’t “owe him sh*t” and that she could pay for her own dinner and drinks.
To this, the man answered in Filipino and English: “I knew that no matter how often I ask you out you will never show up. You’re probably not even as busy at your job as you claim. You just have no balls to tell me ‘no’ directly.”
Alano answered that she already gave him a straightforward rejection and that she works 10 hours a day.
The man answered: “You’re 22. You don’t even know enough about this world to even have the skill or capacity to understand what your bosses tell you, that’s probably why you always get fired from your job because you’re an idiot.”
Alano texted back: “I’m f*cking smart, I do well at my job, and you need to pipe down and take no for an answer. You’re a 29-year-old man asking a 22-year-old for a f*cking date, and when she says no, you insult her intellect, lmao.”
The man replied: “I used to respect you and admire you cos you’re body, brains, and beauty. Maybe just body and beauty lol. Should’ve never asked for your number at that event.”
Alano then sarcastically said that the man was being funny. “When you get the time to get your head out of your ass, do reread this entire conversation. Then go f*ck yourself,” she wrote.
The Twitter post has gone viral; it has been shared almost 4,000 times and has received almost 28,000 likes.
In a message to Coconuts Manila, Alano said she has known the man since 2017.
“He’s always been very persistent with his approach towards me (though I doubt I’m the only one) and always threw passive aggressiveness my way after I reject an invite from him,” she said.
She had told the man prior to this text conversation that she already has a boyfriend.
“[I always] treated him as a professional. From time to time he would message and ask how I’m doing, etc. I’d always say I’m fine, how about you, etc. and wait for the conversation to die down. Somehow it almost always goes to him saying we should catch up and go out and me saying that it sounds nice but I have a boyfriend and I like to keep my professional boundaries intact,” she said.
Alano said the guy’s reaction to her rejection shocked her. “I was taken aback, for sure. Usually, he just drops it and doesn’t really ask me for a reason why not, just says [OK], maybe next time and instigate a new conversation a few months later.”
Alano said she hasn’t heard from the man since their heated exchange.
Many netizens took Alano’s side and criticized the man for what he told her.
@agasramirez sarcastically said: “Wow he sounds like a total catch, look at what you’re missing out on.”
