A five-year-old girl was killed with a hammer inside her own school by her grandfather’s lover.
Police said the girl was still in school in Cainta, Rizal last Thu, Aug 20, when she was visited by her grandfather’s lover.
The woman brought the child to the restroom, locked the door and then used a hammer to kill the child.
Upon hearing the commotion, other schoolchildren alerted the school guard that something violent was happening inside the restroom. This led to the arrest of the suspect, with the help of the parents of the other schoolchildren.
Police said they were able to recover the murder weapon.
The child was rushed to the hospital where doctors tried to save her life. She died at 1am on Fri, Aug 21, after 10 hours at the hospital.
Authorities are eyeing jealousy as possible motive for the crime. It was learned the suspect was jealous because her partner lavished more attention on the grandchild instead of their own children.
Relatives of the victim have yet to issue a statement.
