A businesswoman was shot dead inside her own restaurant in Manila last night.
The victim was identified as 45-year-old Maricel Padpad, ABS-CBN News reported. She was the widow of the late Police Chief Master Sergeant Dennis Padpad who was killed in 2017, The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
According to an initial investigation, Maricel was sitting near the entrance of Mad Wings Bar and Restaurant along Tejeron St. cor. Syquia St. in Sta. Ana, Manila when an unidentified assailant shot her from outside several times, Radyo Inquirer reported.
The gunman had an accomplice waiting on a motorcycle, which they used as their getaway vehicle, the report added.
The victim was rushed to the Sta. Ana Hospital but was declared dead on arrival. She had four bullet wounds on her back.
Recovered at the crime scene were six empty shells and two slugs from a .45-caliber pistol, Inquirer reported. The restaurant’s sliding glass door can also be seen with bullet holes in it.
Dennis, her husband, was also killed by unidentified assailants in 2017 in a Manila gym.
Police are still investigating the motive behind Maricel’s killing.
