There are some commuter stories that we don’t necessarily want to hear — but we have to listen to them so we’re aware that there are people out there who can only be described as perverts.
Case in point: the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) is investigating a jeepney driver who was arrested after he opened his fly and played with himself in front of a female passenger on Fri afternoon, Jun 17. This happened as the jeepney was going through Pasay City.
According to the LTFRB, the female passenger managed to get a record of the perverse act. A Journal Online report revealed that the woman forced herself to take a video of the jeepney driver performing the perverse act as he was driving. The woman reasoned that she knew it would be her only evidence of what happened.
“LTFRB board member Ariel Inton said they have summoned the jeepney driver, as well as his operator to address the issue,” reports Robertzon Ramirez in The Philippine Star.
Inton said, “We will get rid of sex perverts out of public transportation. They create fear among women passengers whom we have to protect.”
As of now, though, police said that the jeepney driver may be charged with unjust vexation.
