Woman pretends to be manager at Ermita hotel, steals Japanese man’s cash

This is a scam that everyone should be aware of.

At around 7:30am on Mon, Jul 25, a 29-year-old woman was arrested after she pretended to be a manager at City Garden Hotel (also known as City Garden Suites) in Ermita, Manila, and stole money from a Japanese guest.

“According to the Japanese guest, the woman knocked on the door of his room, gave him a newspaper, and introduced herself as the hotel manager before telling him he has to pay his bill, which amounted to PHP8,100,” reports Rey Galupo in The Philippine Star.

The report noted: “The Japanese guest related that the woman even used the telephone inside his room to supposedly call the front desk.”

She also got his key and accompanied him downstairs, where he proceeded to get breakfast.

When the Japanese guest went back to his room, he realized that his mobile phone and PHP30,000 cash were missing.

He immediately alerted hotel security personnel. The real manager of the hotel also responded to his distress call.

The woman was caught as she was walking out of the hotel.
