In a cruel twist of fate, a woman died when she got hit by a 10-wheeler truck after avoiding a pickup truck on the opposite lane on a highway in Tacurong, Sultan Kudarat on Sunday night.
The 10-wheeler truck’s driver was identified as Winter June Palomo, 23 years old, while the victim was identified as Jenny Francisco Son, 17 years old, Bombo Radyo reported.
According to residents, the victim first crossed the highway at Purok San Jose in the village of New Isabela to go to a store, ABS-CBN News reported.
She crossed the highway again to head back to the karaoke bar where she worked but stopped in the middle of the highway to avoid a pickup truck, the report added. She took a few steps back then got hit by the 10-wheeler on the opposite lane.
The 10-wheeler truck was heading to Tantangan, South Cotabato to deliver sacks of rice grains when the incident happened.
Due to the impact, the victim’s body was torn apart, ABS-CBN News added. The truck owner will reportedly pay for the expenses of the victim’s burial.
