The bride’s gown is one of the most important parts of any wedding, with a lot of women taking months to find the perfect one for their special day. So just imagine what this woman must have felt when she received a gown that looked nothing like what was promised one day before her wedding.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, Mhayo Arguelles shared how she asked her friend to design her gown but was surprised to receive an “ugly” one that was not what she expected.
“I was devastated when I saw my gown and was like ‘Haaaaa! This is my wedding gown?’ I wondered why it looked like that. So ugly!” she wrote.

According to Arguelles’ post, she agreed to pay PHP30,000 (US$__) for the gown because she trusted her friend to do a good job. She noticed that the dress didn’t look quite right during the second dress fitting in January but thought that it probably just wasn’t finished.
But come Feb. 13, one day before her Valentine’s Day wedding, not much changed. The dress didn’t fit right, the fabric was not of good quality, and it was delivered to her in a reusable Mickey Mouse bag.
“I was charged extra for my veil, which looked like it was just cut off from a mosquito net. Crazy!” Arguelles said. She ended up using the veil but was able to borrow a different wedding gown.
The designer also made the groomsmen’s suits, which Arguelles said did not fit well either.
According to the Facebook post, Arguelles declined to pay the remaning PHP8,000 (US$160) balance she still has to pay for the gown. Her designer friend filed a case against her in their barangay (village) because she refused to pay.
“This is a lesson for you and for me to not trust just anyone,” she said.
But sadly, failed wedding suppliers are nothing new.
Last week, a groom shared how their wedding caterer did not make it to their reception and that they ended up serving their guests burgers and juice instead.
So much for a happily ever after.
