Here’s unsolicited advice to aspiring comedians: No bomb jokes, please. Otherwise, you’d be violating Presidential Decree No. 1727.

On Sun, Sep 18, a woman was arrested after she joked that she was carrying a bomb as she entered a shopping mall in Trece Martires City in Cavite.

“The 38-year-old woman, a factory worker, entered the mall at 11:30am that day. As security guards inspected her shoulder bag, Delantar said, ‘May bomba ‘yan (There’s a bomb in it),'” reports Philippine Daily Inquirer.

The report noted: “Some shoppers panicked, so a guard reported the incident to a police team stationed at the mall, leading to the woman’s arrest.”

As mandated by the law, the woman may be sentenced to a jail term of five years or a fine of not more than PHP40,000 or both.
