As Adele sings, “We could have had it all.”
A female bettor was so close to taking home the grand prize of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office’s (PCSO) Ultra Lotto 6/58 — then with a jackpot of PHP900million (US$16.6million). She had the winning six numbers; the only problem was that she bet on the wrong lotto game.
The woman’s niece May Crisolo shared the sad tale on Facebook on Sunday. Her post of the lotto ticket has since gone viral.
“It’s like money that became stone,” she wrote in Filipino on her caption.
Crisolo told Coconuts Manila through a Facebook message that her aunt Marivic Reynon was the unlucky bettor. “She called me. She couldn’t stop crying and then she sent us that picture,” Crisolo said in Filipino.
Crisolo says Reynon placed her bet on Oct. 4 (Thursday) at the SM Megamall in Mandaluyong City, and the Ultra Lotto 6/58 results came out on Oct. 5 (Friday).
The six winning numbers for the Ultra Lotto 6/58 draw were: 01-30-27-36-49-12.
Reynon had the numbers in this order: 01-12-27-30-36-49. Sadly, Reynon bet the numbers on the Super Lotto 6/49.
The PCSO has several lotto games like the Ultra Lotto 6/58, Grand Lotto 6/55, Super Lotto 6/49, Mega Lotto 6/45, and Lotto 6/42 among others, which is probably why Reynon got confused.
The winning numbers for the Super Lotto 6/49 game Reynon joined, which has a jackpot prize of over PHP90 million (US$1.6million), were: 36-30-01-09-06-22.
She got 01, 30 and 36 right. The standard prize for getting three winning numbers is PHP20 (US$0.37)… yay?
Crisolo’s Facebook post had over 16,200 shares and 6,500 likes as of this article’s posting. Netizens couldn’t help but feel bad for Reynon:
“This is too much. Hurts my heart. She was so close,” said Nao Mi Saligumba in Filipino.
“This hurts,” wrote Facebook user Diana Sajot Quirimit.
“This hurts way more than a breakup,” Eunice Cabusas Capuli said.
That it does, Eunice.
“I might not be able to sleep if this happened to me,” added Catherine Alcaraz Orola.
One netizen by the name of Teena Hoe Avi just came out and said it: “[I]t’s not for you po.”

At present, PCSO’s Ultra Lotto 6/58 has breached PHP1billion (US$18.4million) and is still up for grabs.
