Rosario de la Cruz, 50, her son Israel, 27, and daughter Angelica, 26, were arrested after they allegedly beat up Police Officer 3 Noel Mabini along Paquita Street in Sampaloc, Manila, at around 11pm on Sat, Sep 26.
“Mabini and PO1 Eduardo Layola Jr., both of the Manila Police District Station 4, responded to a complaint that a group of men were gambling. Mabini and Layola were about to approach the men when they ran away, leaving behind Leopoldo de la Cruz, the 23-year-old son of Rosario,” reports Rey Galupo in The Philippine Star.
The cops were about to take Leopoldo to the police station when his mother and two siblings arrived and started beating up Mabini.
Layola went to seek assistance from his colleagues. When they arrived, they arrested Angelica and Israel. Meanwhile, Rosario was arrested a little later, when she visited her children at the police station.
Rosario, Israel, and Angelica have been charged with direct assault, obstruction of justice, and robbery, as Mabini said he “lost his .9mm caliber service firearm, mobile phone, wristwatch, and flashlight during the commotion.”
It was not clear in the report if Leopoldo managed to flee from the cops.
