Why the police need help from over 7,000 civilians

Police personnel should be out patroling the streets and not stuck doing clerical work.

“Thus, Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas said the Philippine National Police (PNP) will hire more than 7,400 civilians by June, so a majority of them can take the place of policemen doing clerical work instead of being in the frontline to fight crime,” reports Francisco Tuyay in Manila Standard Today.

This is a necessary move because, as the current statistics reveal, there is just one policeman for every 700 Filipinos. It could even be one to 1,000 certain localities.
