Which places in PH aren’t too pricey? You’d be surprised

We rant about Metro Manila’s high cost of living, but recently released data from the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) may have us thinking that our glasses are half-full instead of half-empty.

“The NSCB has revealed that the National Capital Region (NCR) is one of two regions — the other one being Ilocos — to have slower price movements,” reports Darwin G. Amojelar on InterAksyon.com.

The NSCB pointed out that from 2007 to 2012, “the average rate of inflation in Ilocos and the NCR is 3.6% percent and 3.7%, respectively—lower than the Philippines’ inflation rate of 4.5%.

So what does that mean?

Jose Ramon G. Albert, NSCB secretary general, said that, for starters, “lower inflation will enable people to make long-range plans, particularly on their consumption patterns.”
