What does this mean?! ABS-CBN’s list of programs is the 8th most edited Wikipedia page

Just ‘cause we’re suckers for cute and useless information like this.

ABS-CBN’s list of programs is the 8th most edited Wikipedia page as of March 2015.

Vox.com just published a chart of said data, which was done by Ramiro Gomez, a software engineer based in Berlin who likes to mine, analyze and visualize data.

Anyway, topping the chart is George W. Bush. ‘United States’ is at third place; Michael Jackson at 5th, comes above Jesus, who is at 6th and the Catholic Church, which is at 7th.

The surprising thing is that ABS-CBN came in at 8th above…current US President Barack Obama and goodness, Hitler, who were at 9th and 10th places respectively.

“It’s about the level of controversy and scrutiny a certain topic might receive. Some topics are always in the cultural ether (sample edit note for Adolf Hitler: “Undoing Colbert-based joke edit”),” reports Phil Edwards on Vox.

Of course, the amount of edits can come from the fact that the topic is really inspiring, or really just dynamic. We’d put ABS-CBN there. A simple check on its page revealed a litany of shows, mygod!

Let’s see, local drama has been subdivided into three categories: primetime, daytime, and weekends. Japanese anime into daytime and weekends. Variety shows into reality, game, and talk.

And then there’s comedy, cartoon, info, ehem, infotainment, infomercials, religious, educational, and so much fcking more. No wonder, no? In any case, we’ve already asked ABS-CBN about their hardworking Wikipedia maintenance team, and are now waiting for their reply.

“Overall, the chart shows that Wikipedia articles’ edits reflectthe esoteric passions of Wikipedians — a type of systematic bias that you can, of course, read about on Wikipedia,” notes the article.
