Authorities at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) arrested a Benin national believed to be working for the West African Drug Syndicate (WADS) on Sunday. They later discovered that the man had swallowed 60 or so thumb-sized capsules containing shabu.
The drugs were meant for a Philippine contact and was worth USD4,000. The courier was arrested by members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI). His “baggage” was detected when he complained of a stomach ache was subjected to an X- ray. NBI Forensic chemists confirmed that the capsules indeed contained methamphetamine hydrochloride (shabu).
Authorities suspect that the Benin national would pass more capsules over the next few hours, GMA News reported.
