Do you still want to be on Boracay after this?

That photo of a crowded Boracay Island, supposedly taken today during #LaBoracay2014 and being passed around on Facebook and Twitter, is a fake.

It’s an old photo taken at 4pm, sometime in May 2013, by professional photographer Dix Perez.

It was shot during the Summer Hangover Party of El Hombre Tequila.

Perez shared the information (and the original photo) to us via Facebook.

How does seeing your photo being RTd and shared on FB make you feel, we asked him.

“Nainis lang ako dahil sobrang low-res na ang photo, because of all the retweets, I guess. Ok lang naman. People picked it up. Pero when I posted that last year, people’s reply was more of ‘wish we were there,’ ‘we missed an awesome party.’  What it is now, ang daming haters. Palengke, Divisoria, ganyan. Ano ba? Gusto mo ba pumunta sa party ng walang tao? And if you’ve never been, don’t judge. Ha-ha. Walang basagan ng trip.”

Earlier, we posted this story and attributed the photo (above) to Ea Tejada’s Facebook account.

On Tejada’s post, he wrote: “The little island of boracay has already turned into a drunken mosh pit of b.o. and vomit. According to google earth engineers, what used to be famous white strip of sand was nowhere to be found from the satellite images they captured a few minutes before 3:00PM earlier. locally known as the happy hour.”

Para lang Feast of the Black Nazarene?

This story was updated on May 1, 2014 to identify the original source of the photograph on top. It was taken by Dix Perez in 2013, not during #LaBoracay 2014. Do you have photos of #LaBoracay 2014?
