Weekend traffic alert: Watch out for EDSA reblocking

It’s the story of a Metro Manila resident’s life.

“Contractors will take advantage of the coming long weekend to conduct repair and reblocking on sections of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue or EDSA and other major thoroughfares in the metropolis,” reports the Manila Bulletin.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) earlier announced that road repairs start as early as 2am on Friday, Jan 31 and will end on at 5am on Monday, Feb 3.

These four areas are affected by the reblocking:

1. Along EDSA between Santolan Flyover and Annapolis (second lane, southbound), Quezon City

2. Between Reliance Street and Shaw Boulevard, Northbound, Mandaluyong City

3. Between Boni Avenue and Mayon Street (southbound), also in Mandaluyong City; and between Arellano Street and Don Ang Street, lane 1 northbound, Caloocan City

4. A portion of Carlos P. Garcia Avenue between E. Jacinto Street and Magiting Street (going University Avenue, first lane from sidewalk), Quezon City

As always, the MMDA told motorists to avoid the affected areas and use alternate routes instead.
