Meet Steve Gan, co-creator of Star-Lord from the Guardians of the Galaxy. Just in time for its movie release, the veteran artist who not only illustrated Panday, but also co-created Star-Lord, Leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, will be signing books at DK Collectibles-The Fort Strip on July 19 and Kapow! Universe-Glorietta 5 on July 23. Both shops will offer Star-Lord: The Hollow Crown, which has the reprint of Gan’s original Star-Lord comics, on sale at 20 % off. Kapow! Universe will also hold an exhibit about the upcoming movie with artists doing on-site sketching and Guardians of the Galaxy cosplayers ready to take group selfies with you. Celebrate Batman’s birthday. As the caped crusader turns 75 this month, comic book shops across Metro Manila holds Batman Day. Filbar’s and DK Collectibles celebrate on July 23 while Comic Odyssey-Fully Booked follows suit on July 26. Shops give away free Batman Detective Comics #27 Special Edition, a modern retelling of the origin story that introduced Batman and Bruce Wayne to the world, designed by Batman fan Chip Kidd and written by Identity Crisis creator and novelist Brad Meltzer. Anniversary masks based on different Batman designs throughout the years and discounted graphic novels are also available during the event. Doctor Who Comics Day will give fans the chance to celebrate everything Doctor Who with signings, events, special variant covers and promotions in stores and at shows.
