Be careful with the caterers you choose for your big day.
Mel Sanchez learned this lesson the hard way after his caterer didn’t show up for his wedding reception on Sunday along with PHP62,000 (US$1,240) worth of food he ordered for his 100 guests.
“We came to an agreement. There was a receipt, a contract, so I was confident that it was a legit deal. I didn’t have a hint that we would have a problem,” Sanchez said in Tagalog during an interview with ABS-CBN News this morning.
After the wedding, the couple and their guests proceeded to the reception, but only the tables and the photo booth were at the venue.
The couple called and texted the caterer several times before the caterer allegedly blocked Sanchez’s phone.
So what did the newlyweds do? They ordered take-out burgers with juice boxes to feed their guests.
“We felt bad for the visitors, although they didn’t show that they were hungry, a lot of them had come from far away places. One collapsed after the event out of hunger,” Sanchez said.
Village officials from Dasmariñas, Makati City, said this is the fourth complaint against the caterer.
“We wasted our savings which we worked hard for, but more than that, we wasted what was supposed to be our moment, a moment we’ll never get back,” Sanchez said.
The couple plans to file charges against the catering company.
