We may welcome Storm No. 2 on Thursday, Jan 30

We like the chilly weather, but no crazy storms, please.

“Glaiza Escullar of the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said that a low pressure area (LPA) over the Pacific Ocean may enter the Philippine area of responsibility by Thursday, Jan 30,” reports Frances Mangosing on Inquirer.net.

Escullar said that this particular LPA “has low chances of becoming a tropical cyclone.” According to the report, it’s expected “to bring rains to parts of Mindanao, including in Northern Mindanao which was recently affected by Tropical Depression Agaton.”

If the LPA intensifies into a cyclone, it will be locally named “Basyang.”
