Afte being waterless for over a week now, Manila’s Finest may soon find themselves in more trouble.
According to GMA News, the Manila Police District also owes the Manila Electric Company over P100 million. The bill was said to have reached an all-time high of P152 million, but the Manila police have managed to trim that figure down to P100 million – for now.
The National Capital Region Police Office, after hearing about the plight of the MPD, has released P2 million to help them pay their arrears. The MPD owes Maynilad Water Services Inc. some P8 million from four separate water lines which they have been unable to pay for since 2005.
However, the NCRPO’s involvement does not end with the bailout. Regional command is demanding an explanation from the MPD as to why their bills have ballooned to such amounts and why they were unable to pay them.
