Water interruption leads to class suspension in Malabon

Classes were suspended in 10 barangays in Malabon due to water interruption.

According to dzMM, more than 28,000 families in Malabon and Navotas were affected by the incident, which started at 2 a.m. on Thursday.

The water interruption was said to have stemmed from a leak in Maynilad Water’s main pipe. The water concessionare temporarily cut off water supply to prevent flooding in the area. The main water pipe is old and rusty which resulted to the a hole more than six inches wide.

Malabon City Mayor Lenlen Oreta suspended classes in both public and private schools from pre-school to high school at Concepcion, Baritan, Flores, Bayan-bayanan, Hulong Duhat, Dampalit, Muzon, Ibaba, San Agustin and Barangay Tañong.

Classes were also suspended at City of Malabon Polytechnic Institute. Reports said water supply will return to normal by 6 p.m. on Friday.
