Watch: Roxas and Duterte encountered each other near a portalet in Dagupan

Nothing but good vibes here.

Politics aside, our presidentiables can be civil with each other, friendly even. It just goes to show that, in spite of everything, and despite public perception they are still regular and decent people.

In an interesting video shared by Grerggy Naguit Eugenio, Liberal Party’s Mar Roxas and PDP-Laban’s Rodrigo Duterte had a chance encounter near, of all places, a portalet in Dagupan.

The five presidentiables were in Pangasinan for the last installment of the Pili Pinas Debates yesterday, Apr 24.

Interestingly enough, they greeted each other with a smile. They were even poised to shake hands but Mar said “Basa, basa! (it’s wet!).”

They exchanged pleasantries and Mar Roxas jokingly said, “Tumataba ka ah. Hiyang ka sa kampanya. (You’re gaining weight. Looks like you’re enjoying the campaign).”

Duterte gave him a friendly pat on the back.

During the debate, the two had an intense encounter about the current state of Philhealth and the government help on the country’s healthcare.

What to learn from this? If politicians know how to respect each other, it’s about time their supporters start learning to do the same.
