WATCH: Red Alert raised over La Mesa Dam in Metro Manila

La Mesa Dam plant manager Engineer Teddy Angeles announced that the water level of the dam is just 53 centimeters away from the overflow level.

Angeles reported the red alert was raised after they observed a six-centimeter increase in the water level in just one hour.

La Mesa Dam is located in Quezon City, the largest city in the Philippines. It is the main water source of the greater Manila area.

Angeles urged the public to evacuate areas that might be affected should the water level go beyond the overflow level. Areas near the Tullahan River such as Quezon City, Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas and Valenzuela.
