WATCH: This is what Mt. Kanlaon looks like when she’s angry

An angry volcano spewing ash and fiery rocks is a good reminder that the power of nature should never be underestimated.

Mount Kanlaon, an active volcano on Negros Island, erupted on Mar 29 Tues evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.

The eruption occurred from the volcano’s active crater at around 6:20pm, and lasted for about 12 minutes.

According to Phivolcs, Kanlaon Volcano remains under alert level 1. This means the volcano is in a period of current unrest, thus minor eruptions may happen anytime.

Here’s a video of Kanlaon emitting moderate white smoke above the crater. The video was taken by Micahel Ocampo and posted on the Visayan Daily Star’s Facebook Page

Mt. Kanlaon continues to emit steam; Alert level 1 still in ef…

Alert Level 1 status remains in effect over Kanlaon Volcano, which means that it is currently in a state of unrest probably driven by hydrothermal processes that could generate more minor eruptions. © Michael Ocampo video
