With just a couple of days before the much-awaited May 9 national elections, it’s about time someone spoof our candidates and help us decide who really deserves our vote. After all, most jokes are half-meant, right?
UP Samaskom, a student organization based in UP College of Mass Communication but open to any UP Diliman student with a flair for the performing arts, has just wrapped up its 31st LIVE AIDS show, an annual variety show produced by students and alumni members.”
This year’s theme? Elections, of course.
The standout performance of the three-day “Live A.I.D.S. HA-LOL-AN” was student Joierie Ann Pacumio, who impersonated vice-presidential candidate Leni Robredo. (Other candidates were also spoofed, but this is what resonated.)
“Kahiyahiya man pong aminin, hindi ko po nasimulan ang palabas dahil ang bus pong nasakyan ko ay Cubao ibabaw [Embarrassing as this may sound, I wasn’t able to catch the start of the show because I rode the Cubao ibabaw bus],” she joked, making a reference to flipflops-wearing Robredo’s penchant for taking public transportation to and from her hometown of Naga.
