This toy isn’t as harmless as it seems.

A nonprofit watch group on Sunday warned consumers against a Chinese-made plastic toy called “Shrilling Chicken” due to the presence of toxic materials.

The toy makes screaming sounds when squeezed, and is available popular bargain haven Divisoria, and also online.

“This squeaky toy, which can be funny and entertaining, contains undisclosed plastic additives that may put kids at risk from exposure to health-damaging chemicals,” said Thony Dizon of EcoWaste Coalition’s Project Protect in a report by the Manila Bulletin.

The toy has been banned in Spain in 2016, the Czech Republic in 2014 and Sweden in 2013. Ecowaste Coalition encourages the government to pull out the toys in the Philippine market.

According to the study conducted by the EcoWaste Coalition, the Shrilling Chicken exceeds the government’s maximum allowable limit of Phthalate, which is linked to various health problems such as gender abnormalities.

The group advises parents who have already purchased the toy to keep it away from children or to dispose of it as hazardous waste.
