On Tue, Dec 22, a different sort of Christmas ad featuring Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte began making the rounds.
The ad is packaged like a traditional Christmas greeting…but it’s far from that. In it, Duterte fires off a short spiel in Filipino, explaining that he was wishing a “Merry Christmas” to junkies, thieves, corrupt officials and the rest of the criminals who have threatened Pinoys.
Then, Duterte warns them, “Kung ayaw nyong huminto at patuloy pa rin ang karahasan, ito na ang huli ninyong, ‘Merry Christmas.’ (If you don’t stop and and violence continues, this will be your last ‘Merry Christmas’)”
Well, the mayor sure has balls to come up with an ad that’s still high impact despite the lack of the usual fare of celebrities and music.
