Class suspensions happen often during the Philippines’ rainy season. For example, today, the government suspended classes in public schools and work in government offices in Metro Manila because of tropical depression “Henry,” which has caused floods.
However, class and work suspensions in private institutions usually must be declared by those who head them. Because of this, news publications often update their readers with the most recent class/work suspension announcements.
People usually refresh social media feeds and wait with bated breath to see if they get to spend the day in bed.
This time, though, GMA Network’s Public Affairs decided to get a little cheeky with its announcement.
Instead of just posting class suspensions, it also posted a graphic designed similarly to its breaking news posts that says: “Wala siyang feelings sa’yo, (He/She does not have feelings for you)” instead of “Walang pasok (No classes/work).”
Ouch.
To add insult to injury, it wrote: “[In] All levels.” — a direct reference to class suspension announcements being declared on “All [school] levels.”

This is a humorous pun locally known as hugot lines — jokes usually meant for lovelorn people who are stuck in the friend zone.
“Just accept it already,” GMA wrote in its caption in Filipino.
Netizens loved the joke and it became a ray of light in an otherwise gloomy day in the city.
GMA’s Facebook post of the graphic now has 23,000 reactions and more than 22,000 shares while the tweet has more than 3,000 likes.
One netizen noted that someone deserved a raise. “Give the graphic designer an increase,” said Facebook user Art Dizon.
Cristian Jade thanked them for their services. “Thank you for the information,” he quipped.

One user by the handle @tbhrafael wrote in Filipino: “That’s too much GMA, what did we ever do to you.”
He included a reference to Amazon’s smart speaker Alexa and a popular local song played in teleseryes (soap operas) that usually signify a sad moment: “Alexa, play Wag Ka Nang Umiyak (Stop Crying) by Gary Valenciano.”
