Daddy is weighing in.
“On Thursday, Dec 19, Vice President Jejomar Binay defended his son, Makati Mayor Junjun Binay, from criticisms after a report came out on the local official’s supposed altercation with security guards in Makati’s Dasmariñas Village last Nov 30,” reports Andreo Calonzo on GMA News Online.
Binay said that the Philippine Daily Inquirer story about the encounter was “distorted.” He also quipped, “Medyo konting kortesiya naman doon sa mayor (The mayor deserves a little courtesy).”

According to the report, “The vice president likewise said he was saddened by the fact that his daughter, Senator Nancy Binay, is being dragged into the issue.” He went on to say that the issue may have been blown out of proportion by his critics.

Meanwhile, Inquirer columnist Winnie Monsod, who is a Dasmarinas resident, also has a few things to say regarding the matter. “The guards were correct…and obviously Mayor Binay is wrong. He was taking advantage of his position and trying to be above the law. And anything that goes above the law is wrong,” she is quoted in a PDI report publishing Friday morning, Dec 19. “The owner of the security agency has no business talking for the Dasmarinas Village Association,” she adds, saying the village association plans to commend the security guards.
