On Sat, Jun 27, Vice President Jejomar Binay was at the oath-taking ceremonies of Rotary International District 3810. (FYI: The Rotary International District 3810 of the Philippines is composed of the Clubs located in Manila, Pasay, Cavite, and Mindoro Occidental.)
Anyway, Binay delivered a speech. And just when you thought he wouldn’t bring up his current heightened tiff with President Noynoy Aquino, he does just that.
“In his speech, pointed out that the frequent breakdowns and deteriorating condition of the MRT-3 are the best symbols of the insensitivity and incompetence of people in the Cabinet,” reports InterAksyon.com.
The report added: “Binay lamented how, despite the Philippines’ being ‘the first country in Southeast Asia to have a Light Railway Transit (LRT),’ the failures in expanding and improving the mass transport system have turned a ‘supposed symbol of pride into a symbol of failures.'”
“The 1.5 million riders of MRT and LRT everyday bring with them prayers that nothing wrong happens with the train coffin. I call it a train coffin, because I read a report saying MRT trains are five times more dangerous than those of other countries. The root of that, according to Advocates of Science and Technology for the People (AGHAM), is this — management failure – as they put it,” Binay said.
