“On Thursday, September 25, Vice President Jejomar Binay opted to go to the National Housing Authority’s (NHA) Paradise Heights Housing Project in Balut, Tondo to turn over housing units to former Smokey Mountain residents,” reports Christine O. Avendaño in Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Binay, addressing the crowd in Filipino, said, “You can see me working. That’s why I’m here.”
Binay then joked, “Sometimes I reflect on whether it is right for me to be here. I don’t know.”

The report noted: “Asked about the possibility that the Senate may cite him and his son, Makati City Mayor Junjun Binay, in contempt for refusing to attend the hearing, the Vice President said that this was up to the Senate.”
