Now that Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Mar Roxas is expected to announce his presidential bid by the end of the week, Vice President Jejomar Binay said the former is not a threat to his candidacy.
“Di naman threat, pare-pareho lang kami kandidato na hihingi ng suporta,” Binay said Wed, Jul 29.
The Vice President said he is praying for a credible 2016 election, amid the reality that Roxas has the machinery and backing of government resources come election time.
Binay said the political fight between him and Roxas should be all about platform of governance, and about personal attacks.
In his speech at an event attended by information security experts, Binay claimed he is a victim of cyber-bullying by supporters of the current administration.
He referred to social media attacks against him and his family.
“Social media natin masakit, tao din naman ako na may damdamin,” he said. “Mga kasinungalingan na paninira sa aking pagkatao at sa aking pamilya, mga bintang na puro kasinungalingan.”
He alleged that the social media flak is part of a “demolition job” to put him down.
Meanwhile, Binay said he will respect the decision of the Aquino sisters on who they will support in the 2016 elections.
“We will have to respect their decision. On our part, we will continue to be best friends,” Binay said.
Binay was also mum on when he will deliver what he said is the “True State of the Nation.”
