Vice-President Jejomar Binay admitted Thursday the United Nationalist Alliance is also doing an internal survey on his chances in the 2016 presidential election but clarified that they will not release the results to the public.

“Meron kami pero di namin sasabihin. Di naman kami gumagawa ng ganun na di kapani-paniwala (We have also had a survey done but we don’t divulge the results. We won’t do something so unbelievable),” Binay said during an ambush interview after his meeting at the Wallace Business Forum held at Makati Shangri La in Makati City.

Binay said the Liberal Party’s claim that an internal survey had shown Secretary Mar Roxas would win the 2016 presidential election if pitted only against Binay was designed to boost the morale of LP members.

“Nagpapalakas ng loob lang yan. Ang nagsisinungaling lagi hanggang sa naniniwala na sila sa kasinungalingan nila (They’re just boosting their morale. Liars always believe the lies they tell). But they are entitled to that. Respect their press release,” he said.

Senate President Franklin Drilon earlier said the results of a Liberal Party-commissioned survey were not manipulated to favor the party’s standard-bearer, Interior Secretary Mar Roxas, who emerged the top presidential candidate in it.

“Kung sinasabi n’yong minaniobra namin ‘yan, para kaming mga gago (If you’re saying we maneuvered that, we would look like fools),” said Drilon, the party’s vice chairman.

“The LP paid for the survey. Yes, it was commissioned by the party. But it doesn’t mean that if it’s commissioned by the party, you manipulate the result,” he added.

The survey showed that Roxas will win if the presidential race were a one-on-one fight between him and Vice President Binay.
