VP Binay, Junjun reject Senate invitation to hearings

Bottom line: You will not see them at the Senate for any of those hearings about that overpriced building, their alleged wealth, or moves being questioned by their critics.

On Wednesday, Sep 24, the camp of Vice President Jejomar Binay gave a presentation about his wealth to the public amid allegations of corruption.

Binay’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) for 2013 was shown. It indicated that he has a net worth of PHP60,118,766 as of December 31, 2013 based on his.

Binay’s legal counsel, Atty. Princess Turgano, then went on to explain where he got his added income. She cited various business ventures, which included a flower shop, a piggery, real estate deals, and others.

“On Thursday, September 25, it was the Vice President’s son, Mayor Junjun Binay who rejected a subpoena from the Senate blue ribbon sub-committee, saying he will not attend the inquiry on the alleged overpricing of the Makati City Hall Building 2,” reports ABS-CBNnews.com.

The report noted: “Speaking before reporters, the Makati mayor said he has sent a letter to the Senate Blue Ribbon sub-committee challenging the jurisdictional authority of the panel to summon him to the hearing.”

The younger Binay also quipped in Filipino, “As the mayor of Makati, I have a lot of obligations to fulfill. I’ll work because that is what is expected of me.”

And that’s that…for now. Naturally, their stance is just driving their haters crazy. It has also made the rest of us more curious about what they have.
