Vice President Jejomar Binay believes that Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao will not abandon him, as the boxing icon himself assured that their political alliance will remain solid.
According to Binay, news regarding the attempt of Interior Secretary Mar Roxas to to woo Pacquiao was just an attempt to sow disunity among his allies in the opposition United Nationalist Alliance (UNA).
YACAP party-list Rep. Carol Jane Lopez, an ally of Roxas, said they have invited Pacquiao to join the Interior secretary, who is set to be proclaimed as President Aquino’s anointed successor.
“With regards to Congressman Manny, nag-uusap kami. He’s keeping his options open. Yun ang gusto namin mangyari, desisyon na niya yan,” she said on Wed, Jul 29.
Pacquiao is currently a member of Binay’s UNA. He even attended the UNA launch earlier this month.
Binay said Pacquiao remains undecided whether he will run for the Senate. He noted that the latter is obviously still not qualified to run for vice-president because of his age.
The Vice President remains without a running-mate in the 2016 elections.
