The verbal skirmishes between these two presidential candidates continue.
On Thu, Apr 14, Vice President Jejomar Binay said that if he is elected President, he will put Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte in prison.
“Binay pointed out that Duterte had already admitted his involvement in the Davao Death Squad (DDS), which is allegedly responsible for the summary executions of over 1,000 criminals in the southern city,” reports ABS-CBN News.
Binay was quoted as saying, “Kapag nanalo po ako bilang Pangulo, ipakukulong ko ang Davao Death Squad, kasali na si Duterte, na ilang beses nang inamin na siya ang nangunguna (If I win as President, I shall jail the members of the Davao Death Squad, including Duterte, who has admitted many times that he leads the group).”
The report noted: “In May 2015, the tough-talking mayor admitted having links to the death squad. He, however, later backtracked on his statement, saying he was referring to a different DDS, the Davao Development System.”
