Heads up, everyone!
The voter registration for the Oct 31 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections began on Fri, Jul 15.
“Registrants started flocking to Commission on Elections (Comelec) offices. The registration will last until Jul 30. Offices of the Election Officer of cities and municipalities will be open from 8am to 5pm., including holidays and weekends,” reports Rose-An Jessica Dioquino on GMA News Online.
The registration is open to first-time voters—both in regular and SK polls—as well as those who have been deactivated for failing to participate in at least two consecutive elections.
The report noted: “With the enactment of the Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015, membership to the Katipunan ng Kabataan (Youth Assembly) is expanded to all youth aged 15 to 30 years old on the day of the polls. Registration for SK elections is open for those between ages 15 to 17. Registrants must be living in the community for at least six months.”
Meanwhile, as the report also indicated, “registrants for barangay elections must be at least 18 years old by the time of the elections. They must also be a resident of the Philippines for at least one year, and living in the place where they intend to vote at least six months before the elections.”
