At least 37 people were fined by Quezon City Hall for attending a meet-and-greet organized by vloggers Toni and Mari Fowler, a violation of the country’s prohibition against the mass gathering.

Toni said that only 50 people registered online for the meet-and-greet and that they didn’t expect more to show up at their store, located in the village of E. Rodriguez in Cubao, Quezon City. The crowd lined up from the store and reached all the way to the street.

Most of the fans who attended bought PHP500 (US$10.46) worth of frozen products and had their photos taken with the Fowler sisters.

“We didn’t expect this many people to show up,” Toni said in an interview with the news program Unang Balita.

A resident who saw the crowd called Quezon City Hall to complain about the mass gathering. The Fowlers had already apologized and promised to pay the penalties of the 35 who were arrested. Other fans had already left by the time the City Hall cracked down on the mass gathering.
