The internet never forgets.

Content creator Paperbug TV posted a now-viral video last week that parodies the controversial Condé Nast Traveler videos that were slammed for misrepresenting the Philippines.

The parody video now has over 580,000 views and 14,000 shares on Facebook, while on YouTube, it has 11,00 views.

“More people from more countries gives (sic) you more stuff for you to ponder on,” the video’s caption reads.

It copies the format of the Condé Nast Traveler videos wherein people from different countries share their cultural practices.

In the parody video, a man is dressed like the Filipino woman representative in the original. The woman was slammed for not speaking Filipino during the interview so the man parodying her exaggerated this.

The actor’s answers are more over the top, portraying the woman as kind of pretentious.

For example, when asked how Filipinos express pain, he first says: “Since we are Americanized, we say ‘Ouchie'” but later slips after being hit by a plastic bottle and says in Filipino: “Aray (Ouch). Sakit nu’n ah (That hurt).”

In the video, he even translates Filipino delicacies to English. Halo-halo (Filipino shaved ice dessert) is “mix-mix” and kwek-kwek (deep-fried quail eggs covered in an orange batter) is “egg waffle.”

It’s no fun explaining jokes, so just watch the video here:

Netizens found the video hilarious, of course.

Ken Capule said in a mix of English and Filipino: “Thanks to the plastic bottle, our representative got to talk in Filipino.”

The Foodie Geek echoed the sentiment on the plastic bottle: “Thank you plastic bottle for dispelling the Americanized facade of our candidate. She certainly looks younger and better here.”

Filipino TV personality Richard Juan said he loved the video.

Condé Nast Traveler released a statement on the issue earlier this month and said: “We appreciate your feedback and take seriously our responsibility to respectfully represent the many different aspects of the countries we cover at Condé Nast Traveler.”
