With the right amount of humor and the most basic photo editing skill, Jhett Baroma turned the traumatic Tuesday evening carmaggedon photo to look like…a Christmas tree.
“I saw the original photo on the internet Tuesday morning and I immediately thought it looked like Christmas lights,” Jhett tells us on Facebook. A former art-based creative in advertising, the wheels in his head started turning. “I flipped it on photoshop so that it will have a mirror image, and then i did layers in increasing sizes. Viola! Tree na.”
It’s funny, yes, but we also can’t help but read the warning that Jhett’s photo comes with: the dreadful Christmas rush hour traffic.
The original photo of EDSA was posted on Orange Magazine TV social media accounts on Tuesday a little before midnight. It quickly turned viral.
According to the Philippine Daily Inquirer, the original photo was taken at 10:30pm by Myk Josh Wierzbicki, who was standing on the 18th floor of Paragon Condominium Plaza on EDSA corner Reliance Street.
A thunderstorm at around rush hour caused severe flooding in some parts of the metro, which caused severe traffic. Many commuters were left stranded until the wee hours of Wednesday morning and went to work on the same day, tired and traumatized.
With the kind of traffic jams we deal on a daily basis, we pray the coming Christmas season will be kind.
“This morning, news reports said that from number 5, Philippines has now gone up to number 3 in the list of countries with the world’s worst traffic conditions. To the government, please make sure we don’t become number 1. Sana huwag niyo na kaming pahirapan pa lalo,” said Jhett who luckily escaped Tuesday’s carmaggedon.
