Imagine a stranger barging in your private hotel room while you and your family are sound asleep. Sounds like a nightmare, but this is exactly what happened to Apple Castillo Matic yesterday during a family staycation at the Solaire Resort and Casino.
“Me, my daughter and her ate Alisa opted to stay at a suite in the popular Solaire Resort and Casino, the day went on great their amenities were amazing to be fair but at night when we were resting and sleeping in our underwear almost, all of a sudden the door opens to a stammering Chinese national, to our horror we were awakened to this stranger in our room saying and demanding to know why we were in his room according to him,” Matic wrote in a Facebook post.
According to Matic, the man said the front desk staff gave him a key to their room. “Clearly we were still checked in and the welcome screen in the room even mentioned my name,” she said in her post.
The man refused to leave and claimed that the room was his.
“He was demanding to know why we were in his room… The man proceeded to lie in one of the beds demanding us to get out of his room,” Matic said.
“All the while one of us managed to call the front desk and still no one was there to rectify the situation and they just gave us the BS that they were verifying it. Verifying their incompetence,” an understandably angry Matic said.
“This man just lie (sic) down in the bed where Alisa was also lying down, he told me to show my key card but I said how can I get out of bed when I’m not even wearing any shorts. I got my shorts and he just watched and even laughed at me while I was putting it on under our blanket,” she said.
Matic said they tried to get management to fix the situation immediately, but did not get an urgent action from the hotel staff. “I can’t help but blame the management for their slow response on this matter. I have told them over the phone that we were all girls in the room but all they can say is that they were still verifying it. Wow,” she said.
They eventually did come, but Matic had managed to get the stranger to leave on her own.
What did the hotel offer Matic and her family for the traumatic experience? A mere 6pm late check out for free.
Matic’s Facebook post had 2,300 shares as of posting time.
Coconuts Manila reached out to Solaire for their side on the matter but has not received a response as of posting time.
